When you are faced with separation or divorce, it is a very personal and emotional time in your life, especially when there are minor children and financial issues to consider.  Maria Cristina Gonzalez is a dedicated family law attorney who understands the dynamics of all the issues involved and is committed to serving your individual needs through settlement or aggressive litigation. Your interests and goals will be protected.

DIVORCE

We commence and defend divorce actions.  Every divorce case is different and the level of complexity varies, depending on whether there are marital properties and debts to be divided; spousal support to be considered; and children issues to be decided, such as custody, visitation and child support.

PATERNITY

A paternity action is brought when children are born out of wedlock.  We bring an action against the father or the mother to seek parental rights of the minor child in order to establish custody; visitation; child support; and address the child’s medical insurance needs.

CHILD CUSTODY AND VISITATION

We counsel and assist clients to understand and consider the best interest of the children irrespective of their own ill-feelings towards the other parent. The best interest of the children must be considered in divorce or paternity cases to decide on which parent will be the primary residential parent of the children; whether joint/rotating custody is appropriate; whether a specific and delineated visitation schedule is necessary to alleviate anxiety of all involved; whether shared parental decisions can be made; or whether sole custody is the only alternative.

PRENUPTIAL AND POSTNUPTIAL AGREEMENTS

We prepare prenuptial and postnuptial agreements to protect your financial interests in the event of a divorce.
